What Is Custom Packaging Sleeves?

A packaging sleeve is a separate part of the main packaging box that covers some or all of the box. Custom packaging sleeves can be made from materials such as paperboard, corrugated cardboard, and plastics like PVC or PET. Printing onto the sleeve can make the packaging stand out and catch the customer’s eye, while also improving the box’s seal.

Packaging sleeves can also help to distinguish between products that are packaged in identical boxes, making it easier for retail sellers to recognize and handle their inventory. Different Custom Packaging Sleeves

To be precise, there are two types of custom packaging sleeves – cardboard packaging sleeves and plastic packaging sleeves. Plastic sleeves can further be categorized into non-stick plastic sleeves and plastic sleeve stickers.

Quality Check of Custom Packaging Sleeves

To avoid quality issues caused by printing failures with self-adhesive materials, it is necessary to carefully check each printing element during the printing process. Here are some tips to help you do this effectively:

Smooth edges without damage are crucial to ensure the quality of self-adhesive label printing for roller stickers. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully check the sticking side of the roll material for any burrs before the printing process. Any damage that may have occurred due to improper storage should also be examined. Additionally, it is important to roll the material for 4-5 laps and carefully inspect the edge of the cut.

When cutting adhesive materials, if the cutting tool is not adjusted properly, it may result in paper cracks at the ends. These cracks may appear on one or both sides. It is important to carefully inspect the bottom paper for any small cracks in the tissue paper.

After inspection, a sample should be taken and the bottom paper should be stripped again to check for cracks on both the paper and the bottom paper. Sometimes, the cracks may be tiny and only visible when the paper and tissue paper are separated at the end.

It is important to note that ink and adhesives used in the printing process may accumulate on the paper guide roller of the printing machine, causing cracks at the edge of the adhesive material. Therefore, any issues should be addressed promptly, even if printing has already started.

The adhesion of the adhesive material edge or the leakage of silicone oil at the end of the paper can result in uneven production and wastage during the printing process. Therefore, before printing, it is recommended to take a length of approximately 1 meter of adhesive material and manually peel it to check whether the edges and other parts are smooth and consistent.

Typically, edge adhesion and end of paper edge adhesion occur only in the outer 7-10 meters of the adhesive material coated on a slitting volume and not throughout the entire roll of paper. Thus, if edge adhesion occurs, it cannot be immediately assumed that the entire roll of paper has the same problem.

It is also important to note that peeling lightweight paper (such as 60 g/m² and 80 g/m² tissue paper) requires more force than the weight of the paper. The lighter the paper, the tighter it feels when peeling. As a result, when die-cutting adhesive material according to customer specifications, it may not be possible to complete the process at the conventional printing speed.

If the rewinding of the roll material is not consistent, it will not only affect the registration of the printing but also make waste discharge difficult. Inconsistent rewinding can lead to changes in paper tension during printing, and uneven tension can also cause problems with print quality.
